House Collapses whilst undergoing basement works

A £3.5million Georgian townhouse owned by Ex Phones4U chief executive David Kassler collapsed ‘like a tower of cards’ as builders worked on its new super basement

A £3.5million Georgian townhouse owned by Ex Phones4U chief executive David Kassler collapsed ‘like a tower of cards’ as builders worked on its new super basement. It was being enlarged to accommodate a cinema, home gym and a wine room when it was reduced to rubble.

Witnesses said they heard a thunderous crash and debris was thrown into the road as the property, which is less than 10ft away from the River Thames and just metres away from a tidal defence wall collapsed in on itself.
