Landlords Suffer Increasing Property Damage Claims

Recent data suggests that water damage claims are the main offender and also the most expensive problem to landlords and ultimately to insurers of rental properties.

Part of the problem stems from a cutback by landlords in general maintenance issues. To help combat this increasing problem, landlords should encourage tenants to report early signs of damp or water ingress to prevent further deterioration and ultimately larger claims settlements.

As the summer draws to a close, colder weather, ice and snow will only add to the problem and both landlords and tenants should remain vigilant and carry out regular maintenance checks.
