BIBA 2014 Conference & Exhibition

BIBA 2014 Conference & Exhibition

18th February 2020

Our Chairman Andy and Director Ian were delighted to attend BIBA 2014 Conference & Exhibition in Manchester last week.

BIBA is the undisputed meeting place for the insurance industry. The event, which was held from 14-15th May at Manchester Central, was the perfect environment to get up to speed with the latest industry developments. As well as giving insurance professionals the opportunity to exhibit, the BIBA conference offers a second to none programme of inspirational keynote speakers, senior industry personalities and experts in insurance and general business related fields.

After an opening address from David Lord Hunt of Wirral PCMBE, Chairman of BIBA and a presentation by Steve White, BIBA’s Chief Executive, Andy and Ian attended some energetic debates. On the first day was an interesting session entitled ‘Customer…Customer…Customer…
Just how good are we at customer service?’ they heard about how commercial customers and householders view insurers and brokers, and what lessons to take from other industries.

On day two The Bigger Picture debate brought together a heavyweight panel to tackle issues of national and international interest. The Rt Hon Lord Prescott, The Rt Hon David Davis, MP and The Rt Hon Sir Walter Menzies (Ming) Campbell CH CBE QC MP were fired with questions about international issues, business in Britain and the political landscape. Host Jon Snow did an excellent job at facilitating the discussion.

The conference was concluded by The Rt Hon Sir John Major KG CH’s session ‘Europe, China and the US – a tripolar world’. From the economy and trade to politics and diplomacy, few have the clear understanding of world events that Sir John Major brings in explaining today’s most complex problems – and he gave us all a lot to think about.

As well as attending fascinating talks and sessions, the event was extremely valuable for MPW personally. The team were able to arrange a series of meetings with different insurers to discuss a range of matters concerning clients, claims underwriting and general business.
